Its vertical configuration provides significantly more capacity than desktop and medium-size humidors while remaining suitable for residential cigar rooms, studies and private lounges.
I’m fairly new to cigars and started building my collection pretty quickly. Before I knew it, I had outgrown my desktop wooden humidor and a couple of Tupperdors, so I started looking for something with more space.
After comparing a few different electric humidors, I decided to go with the BALANS BXW-308A. It seemed like a good balance of size, features, and price, and so far I’m happy with the decision.
The cabinet arrived really well packed and was in perfect condition when I opened it. I let it sit for about 24 hours before turning it on, then filled the reservoir and started getting the temperature and humidity adjusted.
I also spent a few days letting the Spanish cedar shelves absorb some humidity before putting my cigars in. Once I had everything set up, I gradually moved my collection over, and the BXW-308A has been holding the temperature and humidity pretty well.
I keep an extra hygrometer inside just to keep an eye on things, and so far the readings have been consistent. I think giving the cabinet some time to stabilize before loading it is definitely worth doing.
It’s also quieter than I expected. Mine is in a room where I spend quite a bit of time, and the sound from the cooling system hasn’t really bothered me. With the door closed, I barely notice it most of the time.
The cabinet itself looks really nice. The glass door and interior lighting make the collection look much better than it did sitting in several smaller humidors. The Spanish cedar interior is also a nice touch and gives the whole thing a proper cigar-storage feel.
My only minor complaint is that the shelves could slide a little more smoothly. It’s not a major issue, and I’ve gotten used to it, but smoother rails would make things a little easier.
The biggest thing I’m happy about is having enough room now. I don’t have to constantly rearrange cigars or worry about running out of space every time I add a few more.
Overall, I’m very happy with the BXW-308A. It was a big step up from my desktop humidor and Tupperdors, and it has made storing and organizing my growing collection much easier. My only regret is wondering whether I should have gone even bigger.
One of my favorite features of the BXW-308A is the lower drawers. I use them for cigar boxes, accessories, and some of my reserve cigars, while the shelves are perfect for individual cigars. It makes a large collection much easier to organize. The tall design also gives you a lot of storage without taking up an enormous amount of floor space.

Most small humidors use thermoelectric cooling. Thermoelectric cooling can become less effective as ambient temperatures rise, particularly when used for larger-capacity storage cabinets. A Peltier chip can only drop 8–10°C below ambient. On a 35°C summer day, your cigars sit at 27°C. Such conditions can make it more difficult to maintain the stable temperature recommended for long-term cigar storage.
